Steps to Complete the Recreational Therapy Dementia Practice Recommendations
| (the follow up training to the
Dementia Practice Guideline Competency Workshop)
Approximately 4 weeks prior to the expiration of training certificate, you will receive a letter reminding you that it is time for you to re-demonstrate your competency in the practice guidelines. This process will include:
- Updating (or maintaining) your ATRA membership.
- An application and $120 non-refundable training fee. Upon receipt, ATRA will send you information on the next steps.
- An on-line training component (similar to the ATRA Academy teleconference program).
- A multiple choice test, in which you receive a passing score of at least 75% required.
- Submission of either 2 case studies or 2 protocols you have written, which follow the appropriate format.
- You will have 2 months following your certificate expiration date to complete this process. If you do not complete the Practice Recommendations in that time frame, you will need to retake the entire Dementia Practice Guideline training to be reinstated.
- Within 6 weeks, if you pass, you will receive:
- A new Certificate of Recognition, good for three years;
- Continue to be listed on the Dementia Practice Directory on the ATRA website; and
- A transcript for .4 CEUs (4 hours of continuing education).
